Shiatsu Bodywork
Shiatsu,
commonly called acupressure, is a traditional Asian style of massage
therapy. Using gentle
thumb/palm pressure and passive stretches, shiatsu assists your body in
balancing its energetic system.
Instructional
Shiatsu
In
this private session our shiatsu practitioner will demonstrate and teach
you self-care acupressure techniques. In the first part of the session
you will receive shiatsu, and in the latter part you will be shown how
to treat yourself with techniques and points that are tailored to your
individual symptoms, including an anatomy review for better
understanding of your treatments.
Chair
Shiatsu
Using
the same gentle pressure and stretching techniques as table shiatsu,
chair shiatsu will assist in balancing your energetic system. It is
especially good for anyone who experiences discomfort while lying on
their stomachs, such as pregnant women or those with low back pain.
It’s also wonderfully suited to treating head, neck, shoulder, and
upper back tension.
Tui
Na
Through
the application of massage and manipulation techniques, the Chinese form
of bodywork known as Tui Na seeks to establish a more harmonious flow
through the same system of channels and collaterals used in acupuncture,
allowing the body to naturally heal itself. Tui Na includes the use of
hand techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons) of the
body, and acupressure and manipulation techniques to realign the
musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships. Tui Na is not relaxation
massage, but rather corrective bodywork for problem areas.
