Education

Pathways to Wellness offers worldwide educational presentations for agencies, consumers and conferences. Training and education topics include holistic therapies, public health, care for caregivers, HIV/AIDS and other chronic conditions and side effect management for chemotherapy and other treatments. Our outreach and education department can create a unique workshop or presentation targeted to your needs. Presentations are offered as 1 hour informational, 1.5 hour with demonstrations or half day with panel presentation and mini-treatments for participants. They can be offered on site at our main clinic or at your business or conference location throughout the state of Massachusetts. A minimum of 10 participants is required. We also offer hands-on continuing education courses and training for students and practitioners on a variety of topics.

Herbal Internship: Pathways to Wellness offers a 16 week herbal internship with Dr. Tao Xie, M.D. (China), Lic.Ac. The internship is four hours weekly on Fridays. The internship is designed for licensed herbalists and advanced students (third year) who desire to advance their knowledge in prescriptions of Chinese herbs with a master herbalist. The 60 hour course is certified by the Committee on Acupuncture of the Registration in Medicine of Massachusetts for continuing educational credits for reissuing of licenses. We offer an internship program with Ruth Knill on Mondays from 12 - 4pm.  This internship will be a private learning experience and will not carry NESA credit or CEUs.  It is our hope that the diverse clientele you will see at Pathways will provide you with an excellent learning opportunity.  The clinic will run for 12 weeks.  Ruth Knill, who has been Dr. Tao's second-in-command for a number of years and has vast experience serving Pathways' clientele will supervise.  For information, contact Richard Mandell, LAc, Clinical Director at 617-859-3036 ext 29 or rmandell@pathwaysboston.org

Acupuncture Assistant: We offer weekly observation and assistant opportunities for acupuncture students, licensed acupuncturists and the lay person. One on one training by senior practitioner. Requires a 2-hour safety and procedural training. Assistantships are for 3 month minimum. Herbal Assistant: We offer weekly opportunities to assist in our herbal department. Unique opportunity to observe and assist within a powdered herb pharmacy with herbalists having over 50 years cumulative experience, both in China and the US. Requires a 2-hour safety and procedural training. Herbal assistantships are offered at $15/4-hour shift or $25/full day. This money is used to create our herbal scholarship fund to provide access to Chinese Herbal medicine.
